Introduction
Switzerland is a beautiful country with charming cities, breathtaking scenery and delicious food. The country has been referred to as “the sweetheart of Europe” and it’s easy to see why. With multiple languages spoken and all sorts of different cultures represented there are plenty of reasons to visit Switzerland at any point in your life! Here are some of my favorite places to visit while in this gorgeous country:
Bern
Bern is the capital of Switzerland and one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. It’s also home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including its Old Town, which is considered one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe.
The Bear Park is an adorable wildlife park that offers a glimpse into what life might have been like for bears during medieval times (complete with an ancient-looking castle). You can walk through it and see these majestic animals up close or watch them from a distance at feeding time–either way, it’s sure to be an experience you won’t forget!
If you’re looking for something more historical than animal-related activities when visiting Bern, consider visiting nearby Murten Castle or exploring one of many museums within walking distance from your hotel room (or even better: book yourself into one!).
Lucerne
Located on the shore of Lake Lucerne, Lucerne is a city known for its beautiful scenery and picturesque views. The city is a popular destination for tourists who come to enjoy its vibrant nightlife as well as take advantage of its many outdoor activities.
As an added bonus, it also serves as the backdrop for many movies!
Interlaken
Interlaken is a town in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. The town is situated between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, in the heart of the Jungfrau region.
Interlaken has been an important regional center since at least the Middle Ages because it sits where three valleys meet: Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald to its north-west; Adelboden to its south-west; and Kandersteg on its south side. It has also been home to some notable personalities over history including philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900), poet Robert Walser (1878-1956), author Hermann Hesse (1877-1962) who spent his childhood years here before moving away with his family when he was seven years old due to financial difficulties experienced by their father who worked as a school teacher here for many years after returning from military service abroad during WW1…
The mountains, lakes and valleys of Switzerland are simply breathtaking.
The mountains, lakes and valleys of Switzerland are simply breathtaking. The Swiss Alps are the highest mountains in Europe and a paradise for hikers and skiers alike. In fact, most of the country’s population lives along these slopes as well!
The Matterhorn is one of the best-known peaks in all of Switzerland. It’s located on its own ridge that separates two valleys: Zermatt (to its north) and Breuil-Cervinia (to its south). It was first climbed by Edward Whymper on July 14th 1868 without using any ropes or protective equipment at all–a feat which has often been considered one of mountaineering’s greatest achievements ever since then!
Conclusion
The mountains, lakes and valleys of Switzerland are simply breathtaking.
