Scale El Tronador Mountain
El Tronador is a mountain in the Andes, located at the border between Chile and Argentina. It’s the second highest peak in Argentina, third highest in South America and third highest in Patagonia.
El Tronador translates to “thunder” or “thundering” in Spanish and refers to its frequent thunderstorms which are caused by warm air rising over glaciers on its slopes. The mountain has two peaks: Punta Huemul (4,723 m) to its east and Cerro Tronador (4,965 m) to its west; both have glaciers that flow down their sides into lakes below them (Lake Huemul).
