Introduction
Croatia is a country that’s still relatively unknown to many travelers, but it shouldn’t be. The small European nation has one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, and I’m going to tell you about why.
Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik is a historical city with a rich history, dating back to the 7th century. The city is known for its walled city and old port, which are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The Old Town of Dubrovnik is home to many historic sites including the Cathedral of St. Blaise (built in 1617), Bell Tower (built in 1444) and Fort Lovrijenac (constructed between 1358-1420).
The Stradun (“promenade”) runs through all four quarters of the city center, connecting them with each other as well as providing access to other attractions such as cafes or shops along its way
Split
Split is the second largest city in Croatia, and it’s also one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Adriatic Coast. The city has a lovely old town with beautiful architecture and many things to do and see including museums, churches, parks and more.
Split has been an important settlement since ancient times due to its location at one end of a natural harbor. It was founded by Greek colonists who called it Poli(s)tas (Greek: “city”).
Hvar
Hvar is one of Croatia’s most picturesque islands, with its lush vegetation and beautiful beaches. There are many hiking trails, restaurants and historical sites to explore on Hvar Island.

Plitvice Lakes National Park
Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of Croatia’s most popular attractions. Located in the mountainous region of Lika, it’s home to 16 lakes that have formed over time through natural erosion and waterfall formations. The park is divided into several hiking trails that wind through pristine forests and reveal stunning views of the lakes’ distinct colors–from deep blue to emerald green–and waterfalls cascading down from high cliffs.
The park has numerous hiking paths suitable for all skill levels, including one trail that leads you past each lake so you can see them all up close (it takes about 2 hours). There are also two different cable cars available if you don’t feel like walking at all!
When visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park, make sure not to miss:
- Lake Kozjak (the largest lake) with its stunning turquoise color that changes throughout different times of day due to light reflection from surrounding rocks; * Waterfalls like Veliki Slap (10 meters high), Mali Slap (7 meters high), Veliki Rastovac waterfall with its large pool below where many people swim; * Botanical Garden filled with various plant species native only found here within this area
Korcula Island
Korcula Island is located in the Adriatic Sea, and it’s known for its beaches and natural beauty. The island has a rich history that dates back to Roman times when it was ruled by a series of different emperors. Some of these rulers left behind their mark on Korcula by building many structures still visible today, including Arbanasi Fort (which overlooks Korcula Town), Fortica Fortress (located on an island near Bol) and St Michael’s Church (which sits atop Mt Hum).
Korcula is also home to many other attractions including:
- The Old Town – Located within walking distance from most accommodations on this stunning Croatian island; this UNESCO World Heritage Site features narrow cobblestone streets lined with shops selling crafts made by local artists as well as restaurants serving traditional Croatian dishes like octopus salad or grilled fish filets seasoned with olive oil & garlic sauce
Croatia’s coastline is stunning.
