Introduction
I’m a big fan of road trips. They’re good for the soul and they’re also great for getting to know a place beyond a standard tour. If you have only one week to explore Australia, this route will take you through four of its most beautiful regions: Sydney, Blue Mountains National Park, Hunter Valley and Barrington Tops National Park, and Melbourne.
Sydney Harbour
Sydney Harbour is one of the world’s most famous harbours. It is a great place to go for a walk, swim and picnic.
Blue Mountains National Park
The Blue Mountains National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it’s easy to see why. The park boasts a variety of landscapes: from rugged mountains to lush rainforests, there’s something for everyone. If you’re looking for some adventure and an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, this is your spot!
To get there, take Exit 5 off the Great Western Highway (A32). From here you can either head west toward Katoomba or east toward Leura–both options will take you through some amazing scenery.
If time permits (and if you don’t mind driving on windy roads), consider making a pit stop at Scenic World in Katoomba before continuing on with your journey; it offers great views over the Jamison Valley as well as several activities such as cable cars or chairlift rides up Mount Solitary which are perfect for taking photos!
If all goes according to plan then by now we should be close enough so that when I look out my window all I see are trees instead of buildings.”
Hunter Valley and Barrington Tops National Park
The Hunter Valley is one of Australia’s most famous wine regions, and Barrington Tops National Park is a stunning spot to explore. The two are linked by the Great Dividing Range, which runs along the eastern coast of Australia from Brisbane to Victoria and includes several national parks.
The Hunter Valley offers plenty of things to do besides drinking wine: You can visit historic towns like Maitland or wander around vineyards such as Mount View Estate Winery (pictured above). Or if you’re feeling adventurous, take on some activities like abseiling or horseback riding at Glenrock Station or hiking through Barrington Tops National Park with its waterfalls, caves and scenic bluffs overlooking Lake Cordeaux valley below!
Canberra
Canberra is the capital city of Australia and a great place to visit for all types of tourists. It’s home to many attractions, including the National Gallery of Australia, which houses one of the largest collections in Australia. There are also plenty of options for families just outside Canberra such as Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre or Paddys River Reserve Parklands where kids can play in waterfalls or go fishing.
Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road is a must-visit for any Australian road trip. The drive itself is beautiful, but there are plenty of things to do along the way. You can explore the Twelve Apostles, go whale watching and swimming with dolphins, or visit the Grampians National Park for some hiking.
A great road trip can take you through some of the most beautiful regions in Australia.
The Australian road trip is a great way to see the country. You can drive from Sydney to Melbourne, for example, and see some of the best scenery in the world along the way. Along with some spectacular coastlines and mountain ranges you’ll also have time to stop for coffee or lunch at one of many towns along your route.
There are plenty of places on this route where you can stop for coffee or food if you need a break from driving!
Conclusion
We hope this road trip inspires you to get out of the city and explore Australia. There’s so much to see and do, so make sure you don’t miss out on any of it!
