In this post I’ll share my experience traveling throughout Africa along with recommendations for where to go and what to do while you’re there.
Antananarivo, Madagascar

Cairo, Egypt
Cairo, the capital of Egypt and home to its largest city, is a cultural hub that attracts visitors from all over the world. The city is famous for its cultural diversity. It’s also known as an important center of Islamic culture and houses some of the most important sites in Egypt such as the Pyramids of Giza and Great Sphinx.
In addition to these impressive landmarks, Cairo has many other attractions worth seeing such as Khan el-Khalili Bazaar (a traditional market), Temple of Ramses II (an ancient temple), Al Azhar Mosque or University Mosque (the oldest university in Egypt), Citadel Mosque or Muhammad Ali Mosque (built by Muhammad Ali Pasha), Coptic Museum & Churches etc., which makes it an excellent destination for travelers interested in experiencing both ancient history and modern culture!
Cape Town, South Africa
Cape Town is a city of great natural beauty, with stunning vistas and mountains that draw you in. The best place to see the Southern Cross is on Table Mountain, and it’s also home to one of the oldest wine cellars in the world.
The city was voted “World’s Most Beautiful” by National Geographic readers in 2014, which should give you an idea of how spectacular this place really is!
Zanzibar City, Tanzania
Zanzibar is an island off the coast of Tanzania, just south of Dar es Salaam. It is known for its beaches and coral reefs, but also has a rich culture that reflects its history as a trading post between Africa and Arabia.
Zanzibar’s cuisine reflects this blend of cultures; it includes spices such as cloves and nutmeg that are native to Indonesia, but also incorporates coconut milk from Southeast Asia (which was introduced by Arabs).
